Immigration Update January 2018

02 February 2018

The Government has announced that when Brexit has happened and the British passport is restored to its full British glory it will be blue, like it was in the old days.

The latest Statement of Changes to the Immigration Rules introduced an interesting change for Tier 1 dependants. Previously there was no rule about the number of days that such migrants could stay outside the UK. They could qualify for settlement after five years after having spent only a minimal number of days in the UK. This has now been changed, and to qualify for settlement they must now not have spent more than 180 days outside the UK per year – as was already the case with main Tier 1 applicants.

Caroline Nokes MP has been appointed the new Immigration Minister
