RSL Law Staff asked 1 year ago

Can a mother of a child who is a British citizen acquire a right to live in England? If yes, what kind of right is that (citizenship, Permanent Residence, any other)? The circumstances are as follows: she has lived in the UK for the past 4 years and the father of the child is a British citizen. Also, does the mother of a child has the right to receive child benefit in these circumstances?

Your question is very complex. The immigration category in which you can acquire a right to reside in the UK depends on many factors, for example, where you are living now, which visa you had when you were living in the UK, whether you are married to the father of your child and many other. You can also apply with reference to Human Rights.
