Good afternoon. I was a Russian citizen with the permanent residence status in Latvia and had European driving licence that I had obtained in Latvia. Later I became a Latvia citizen and obtained a Latvian passport. However, I didn’t replace my driving licence. I am currently living in England and have to start driving a car but my driving licence is out of date. I am not planning a trip to Latvia any time soon. How can I renew my licence in England or replace it with the English driving licence? Are there any other options? Thank you.
Since you are a Latvia citizen and are living in the UK, you are entitled to use a valid Latvian driving licence when driving in the UK. If your driving licence is no longer valid, you can renew it at the Latvian embassy in the UK. Once you have renewed your Latvian driving licence, you will be entitled to replace it with the British one.
